The word ‘pact’ can be used instead of treaty in the above example, as it is a synonym for it. A protocol is an original draft or record from which a treaty is prepared. It is also the customs and regulations that deal with diplomatic relations. A convention is a meeting or formal assembly called for a specific purpose. And, finally, a resolution is the formal expression of an opinion or intention, usually issued after voting.
