?`s and ANNEswers

How do you write a proper name that ends with the letter s. Example Ellis in the form The Ellis’s or The Ellis’. Thanks Penny

You would say The Ellises. The rule is that words ending in ‘s’ usually add an ‘es’ when they are pluralized. Now, if you want to show ownership on top of pluralization, you would say The Ellises’ family home. Or The Ellises’ family boat. This mean you add an apostrophe.
