When referring to a mural painting by its name, given it by the artist, in a term paper, do you underline it, put it in parenthesis or otherwise reference it?

Works of art such as murals are put in quotation marks. So you would say Leonardo DaVinci's "Mona Lisa," Monet's "Haystack," and Grant Wood's "American Gothic."
