Annette from the Florida Keys asks...
are commas before the word or/and/& necessary when listing items...for example... sauteed with fresh herbs, white wine, butter and garlic...in a menu description that is not structured as a complete sentence ?? or when listing choices... to any entree you may add 4 shrimp fried, coconut or scampi style for $6.95???
Anne answers...
Since your question relates to menu issues, my answer will too. But this does not mean that what I say regarding menus is appropriate for the world at large. In the examples you cite, you can choose to use or not to use a comma. Personally, I prefer the comma so that there is no confusion. This is a traditional point of view. The important thing is to be consistent from menu page to menu page.
