Chloe M. , neophyte writer, asks...
How can I increase my chances of an editor reading my work?
Anne answers...
Check the guidelines of the specific editor you're planning to impress. For instance, some editors don't accept unsolicited manuscripts at all; others prefer receiving query letters to receiving the entire work. Those editors who do accept manuscripts have specific guidelines that they want aspiring writers to follow. In today's world, the best way to obtain those guidelines is usually by going to the publisher's website. While your work itself must have that original flair, submitting it according to how the publisher or editor requests increases your chances. An unreadable typefont on fancy purple paper does not.
