In So CA the phrase ‘on the yard’ is in use. When I say ‘in the yard’ I am corrected. I am told New Yorkers say ‘on line’ which is wrong. However, one stands on an imaginary line , but gets into line. NY’ers understand that. I cannot ever see a usage for ‘on the yard’ as correct. will let them know that too.
