Earl’s New Recipe

In our family and beyond, Earl is known for his funeral potatoes, a dish guaranteed to hasten a heart attack but also guaranteed to be the first to disappear. Who can resist cheddar cheese, diced potatoes, sour cream, and cream

We Won

This past weekend Earl and I were in attendance when Georgia Tech trounced the University of Notre Dame’s football team. The Yellow Jackets showed little remorse as they stung and stung again, while the ND quarterback — regardless of which

Starbuck’s Revisited

I’ve gone back on my word not to visit Starbuck’s. I’d kissed the coffee chain good-bye a while back when I stood in line over fifteen minutes to get my specially made latte and wondered if any coffee was worth

Zeke’s

Last year Earl and wandered into Zeke’s, a tavern/restaurant in Dowagiac, a town about twenty or so miles further down the road. We had been exploring backroads and wanted something to drink. Zeke’s, which has two hundred beers on tap

Skillet Dinner

Earl and I attended an outdoors show at a local arena a few weeks back. It’s one of those shows where boats and fishing are the featured attractions, but other vendors with peripheral interests to the outdoors set up booths.

Fishin’

Early yesterday morning Earl and a couple buddies went fishing in Lake Michigan. He arrived home mid-afternoon with three fish as the result of his efforts, so of course we had one for dinner.

It reminded me of the time
