?`s and ANNEswers

I have looked in several books but cannot find the answer to my question. What are the plurals of “don’t” and “do”? For instance, if I were to write: “There are four dos and four don’ts in the list below”,what would be the correct spelling? “Don’t’s” or “don’ts”, “do’s” or “dos”?

Posted on February 7, 2013

My Webster’s Unabridged says that, in the instance you ask about, ‘do’ can be pluralized as either ‘dos’ or ‘do’s.’ Don’t is pluralized only as ‘don’ts.’
