Which is the preferred way of writing III. Such as John Jones, III or John Jones, 3rd. We are having a plaque made for a presentation and I want to make sure his title is correct. Thanks!

The plaque should read John Jones III. Use the Roman Numeral and do not put a comma either before or after it.
