    • I thought I knew the difference between a passive and active sentence. Now I’m not so sure because of a crit I received on my story. Doesn’t whether the sentence is active or passive depend on whether the verb is active or passive? Jane threw the ball vs the ball was thrown by Jane. I had a critiquer tell me the following was passive: Out of his lab coat, Brizet looked remarkably presentable. Is it?

Should there be an apostrophe after the – s’ -in White Plains or should you add ‘s to White Plains for the following descriptive: There is a shuttle to the White Plains’ Metro North Station Or should there be an “‘s”

Posted on February 7, 2013

There is no apostrophe at all, because you are using a title here and not a possessive. The correct description is: “There is a shuttle to the White Plains Metro North Station.”
